In May 2026, at Seanergy in Nantes, Iberdrola and the maritime cluster Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique unveiled the three winning projects in the second call for expressions of interest under the IBReizh programme, devoted this year to the security and surveillance of offshore infrastructures. Relaunched in 2025, this programme, funded by Ailes Marines (Iberdrola) and jointly led by the Brittany Region, supports innovative solutions to protect offshore infrastructures, during both construction and operation. Three projects were selected for this call: SEAWARD (Quiet Oceans/CLS), SEAOWL (SeaOwl) and MAESTRO (Nanocode). Nanocode started out ten years ago in Cesson-Sévigné, at the digital incubator in Rennes, with a clear ambition: to provide organisations with a digital tool to deal with exceptional situations. “Nanocode is an adventure we launched in order to design a platform capable of coordinating crisis situation management and to help companies bring the situation under control as quickly as possible,” recounts the company’s CEO Thierry de Ravel.
Brittany’s small business with big clients
Behind this independent SME lies an awe-inspiring business development journey. Orange, Société Générale, Aema, the French health ministry, France Travail, Orano, Framatome… Nanocode supports public and private organisations working in critical environments, both in France and across the globe. Its position is built on a simple observation: when an organisation is faced with a crisis situation, smooth coordination, decision traceability and the ability to bring in the right stakeholders are determining factors.
Through this specialisation, Nanocode can tackle challenges relating to general management, business continuity, safety, security and operational resilience. The company is a specialised technological player able to handle complex issues, generally managed by large organisations or by highly sector-specific initiatives.

MAESTRO: real-time maritime crisis management
Through the IBReizh programme, Nanocode designed the MAESTRO project (Maritime Alert & Emergency Supervision Tool for Renewable Offshore), building on its crisis management platform Easylience® for security, surveillance and operational coordination challenges facing offshore wind farms.
The MAESTRO project involves aggregating data from the wind farm’s systems: radar, AIS (Automatic Identification System), surveillance cameras, marine weather data and SCADA (the wind turbines’ Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system). The aim is to facilitate the detection of anomalies, weak signals or events requiring coordination between the different parties, and then to trigger a structured, documented and traceable response. “When an incident affects the operation or security of an offshore wind farm, it is vital to rapidly assess the situation, coordinate decision-making and monitor the actions taken together with all the stakeholders,” explains Thierry de Ravel.
MAESTRO’s strength lies in the universality of the process it leverages. “The crisis management process is generic to all types of organisations and all types of risk scenarios”. This is precisely what appealed to Iberdrola: Nanocode’s ability to understand what its clients do and integrate that knowledge in its platform via a specific configuration. “We are not wind energy specialists. However, we are able to take on board what our clients do and transpose that to our platform,” confirms Nanocode’s CEO.
Thanks to the IBReizh funding, of up to €100,000 and covering 50% of eligible costs, Nanocode will be able to hit an important technical milestone: the development of interfaces between Easylience® and the sensors used for offshore applications. The solution is expected to be deployed by spring 2027 in Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm, which is already in operation.
A gateway to the offshore renewable energy sector in France and worldwide
While MAESTRO is a first for Nanocode in the field of offshore renewable energy, its future could stretch far beyond this initial trial. “Offshore renewable energy is the future,” asserts Thierry de Ravel. “Several leading energy players, involved in the deployment of offshore platforms, have already expressed interest in our platform.”
Nanocode’s ambitions also include an international component. As the company prepares to open an office in North America, Iberdrola’s presence in the United States, Spain and Brazil opens up direct export opportunities. “In terms of international expansion, working in this sector could be extremely beneficial for us here in Brittany,” concludes Thierry de Ravel.
As the first of the three winners of the IBReizh 2025 call for expressions of interest featured in this series, Nanocode illustrates how expertise gained in other sectors can boost the development of the offshore renewable energy sector in Brittany.
