Paimpol-Bréhat, an exceptional site dedicated to the testing and optimization of tidal turbine prototypes
The Paimpol-Bréhat tidal test site is the only scale 1 test site in France, dedicated to the testing of tidal turbines at sea. Thanks to the fact that it is a test site in real ocean conditions, and because of its currents, or its exposure to the swell, it is a unique site for any project developer.
This unique test-site benefits from 10 years of operating experience.
It’s a good site to qualify technologies and move from the concept to the industrial stage !

In Paimpol-Bréhat, machines can be connected to the national grid and since the improvement of the submarine link carried out in mid-September 2022, the tidal demonstrators can even be connected to three-phase alternating current using a drymate connection. Thanks to these qualities, it’s easy to operate and at controlled cost.

Paimpol-Brehat test site takes part of the Interreg TIGER France Manche England project. The UE TIGER project promote tidal stream energy as a maturing industry, capable of achieving an accelerated cost reduction pathway. Paimpol-Bréhat test site is also part of the Open-C Foundation the French major test sites network.
