QUIET-OCEANS

A company specialising in the emerging field of underwater noise, it is an expert in underwater acoustic modelling, assessing the associated risks and proposing solutions to mitigate the impact of noise on biodiversity.

Description

Quiet-Oceans is a company specialising in underwater acoustics, which applies its expertise to the assessment, monitoring and management of underwater noise and its impacts on marine ecosystems. The company supports both public authorities and industry stakeholders in carrying out environmental impact assessments and ensuring regulatory compliance for a wide range of maritime projects, particularly in the fields of offshore renewable energy, offshore construction, port and coastal infrastructure, and seismic surveys. With extensive experience in the development of offshore wind farms across Europe, Quiet-Oceans helps to ensure the success of projects whilst minimising environmental risks. Quiet-Oceans combines operational forecasting, in situ acoustic measurements and advanced modelling capabilities to provide a comprehensive and reliable understanding of underwater noise. Our solutions include Quonops©, an operational platform for acoustic forecasting and monitoring; real-time and long-term in situ acoustic measurements, including passive acoustic monitoring and the assessment of underwater radiated noise (URN); as well as Ocean Planner, a modelling tool designed to support maritime spatial planning and assess the environmental and operational implications of maritime activities. Beyond its operational services, Quiet-Oceans is actively involved in research and innovation to improve the understanding and management of underwater noise. The company contributes to achieving Good Ecological Status in European waters and supports stakeholders in the sector in implementing sustainable, science-based approaches for the development and conservation of the marine environment.
