Come and meet us at FOWT 2026 !

FOWT 2026

From 23 to 26 March 2026, the international floating wind sector will gather at FOWT. Organised this year in Montpellier, following the 2025 edition in Brittany, this industry event is an opportunity for Brittany to reaffirm its commitment to the development of this technology!

FOWT 2026, the world’s leading floating wind event, offers the Brittany Region an opportunity to reaffirm its ambition: to make offshore wind energy a decisive lever for energy sovereignty, decarbonisation and skilled jobs in its territory. This edition comes a few days after the publication of the 3rd Multi-Year Energy Programme (PPE3), which confirms the national ambition to deploy offshore wind power to reach 18 GW in 2035 and 45 GW in 2050, with a significant share reserved for floating wind power. Brittany, with projects identified (AO9 South Brittany, AO10 North-West Brittany, and Bretagne Grand Large, the largest area dedicated to floating wind in France) or already underway, occupies a central place in the deployment of floating wind in France.

Brittany: Europe’s Gateway to Floating Wind

A pioneer with the Pennavel project currently under development in southern Brittany, the first farm in France for this technology, Brittany is consolidating its position as a leader in floating wind power.

More than 200 companies are already involved in MRE and their expertise is recognised in France and internationally.

Finally, in terms of infrastructure, Brittany has invested heavily in the development of the port of Brest to accommodate marine energy-related activities. As the project owner of a project worth over £250 million, the port authority has a marine energy terminal covering more than 40 hectares. In the future, this facility will be adapted to the needs of floating wind turbine manufacturers as part of the INFLOW project led by BrestPort with the port of Lorient and the Region.

Complementing Brest, Lorient is emerging as a leading EMR service port, an ideal base for maintenance of the wind farms in southern Brittany and a logistics hub, particularly for anchors.

Brittany, together with the 4 French regions involved in floating wind

But FOWT is also an opportunity to join forces with other regions involved in floating wind energy. Brittany is therefore working alongside the Occitanie, Sud and Pays de la Loire regions to position France at European and international level.

And to represent the French supply chain, which comprises more than 500 companies, Bretagne Ocean Power is flying the collective flag of France Offshore Renewables alongside Neopolia, Normandie Maritime, Aquitaine Blue Energy, Wind’Occ and Sudeole. The regions’ stand and the Welcome Reception organised on 23 March by the participating regions will provide opportunities to bring the region together to discuss floating wind power.

With its projects and port infrastructure, Brittany is a key region for the development of floating wind.

Come and meet its representatives at the regions’ stand or at the regions’ Welcome Reception!
